* **plug** /plʌɡ/: The part at the end of a cable that you push into the wall for power. — “Push the **plug** in properly or it won't work.”
* **fire** /ˈfaɪər/: The hot bright flames that burn and give off heat. — “We sat around the **fire** and told stories.”
* **wind** /waɪnd/: The air moving fast outside, that blows your hair and the trees. — “The **wind** blew my umbrella inside out.”
* **hot** /hɑt/: Very warm, like fire or the sun in summer. — “Be careful, the soup is still very **hot**.”
* **cold** /koʊld/: Feeling like ice or snow; not warm at all. — “My hands are **cold** because I forgot my gloves.”
* **power** /ˈpaʊər/: The supply that makes lights and machines work in a building or device. — “The storm cut off the **power** to our street.”
* **warm** /wɔrm/: A little hot, in a pleasant way — not cold and not too hot. — “Wear a coat — it's not very **warm** outside today.”
* **bright** /braɪt/: Giving out a lot of light, or full of light. — “The lamp gives off a **bright**, white light.”
* **turn on**: To make a machine or light start working by pressing a switch or button. — “Can you **turn on** the lamp? It's getting dark.”
* **turn off**: To make a machine or light stop working by pressing a switch or button. — “Please **turn off** the TV before you go to bed.”
