* **hot** /hɑt/: Very warm, like soup that has just come out of the pan. — “Careful — that soup's still really **hot**.”
* **cold** /koʊld/: Not warm at all, like a drink with ice in it. — “I love a **cold** drink after playing football.”
* **soft** /sɑft/: Easy to press or bite, and not hard. — “This bread is lovely and **soft** in the middle.”
* **warm** /wɔrm/: A little hot, but not very hot. — “Drink your tea while it's still **warm**.”
* **dry** /draɪ/: With no water or other liquid in it or on it. — “The cake was a bit **dry**, so I needed water.”
* **thick** /θɪk/: Almost solid and slow to pour. — “This soup is so **thick** that the spoon stands up in it.”
* **nice** /naɪs/: pleasant or good, for example the way food tastes. — “This soup tastes really **nice**.”
* **bad** /bæd/: unpleasant or unsafe to eat, for example food that has gone off. — “This milk smells **bad**.”
